Ilminster Literary Festival Poetry Recital Final

This week saw Herne View hosting the final of the Ilminster Literary Festival Poetry Recital Competition and it was a pleasure to welcome the nine schools who brought eighteen exceptional finalists. All of the children who performed their poems from memory performed to a very high standard and the judges from the Literary Festival Committee had a very difficult decision.
Our two Herne View finalists performed very well indeed and when the results were announced River received first in his category and Alice was runner up in hers, both very well deserved after outstanding performances.
Congratulations to all the finalists and to all the pupils who took part, as a school our competition helped engage 210 young people across the area in poetry and maintained our community link with the Ilminster Literary Festival.
