This week saw Herne View hosting the final of the Ilminster Literary Festival Poetry Recital Competition and it was a pleasure to welcome the nine schools who brought eighteen exceptional finalists. All of the children who performed their poems from memory performed to a very high standard and the judges from the Literary Festival Committee had a very difficult decision.

A guest article this time by Edward Wells of Ilminster Rotary. The finals of the annual Young Voices Competition took place at Herne View Primary School in Ilminster on Tuesday 19th March. A collaboration between the school and the Rotary Club of Ilminster, the competition featured 13 young orators from 6 to 10 years old addressing a roomful of people

Children and staff at Herne View Primary and Apple Orchard Pre School in Ilminster joined in the fun for Comic Relief by turning the school into a wave of red and donning some odd socks to raise over £200 for the charity this last week.
