From Monday 20th -22nd of March 76 children from Herne View Church of England Primary School set off on their first ever residential adventure to Bristol. For two nights and three days the children from Year 6 explored many of the cultural highlights of the city from Brunel’s SS Great Britain  to Tyntesfield National Trust, with stops at the M Shed

The annual “Young Voices” public speaking competition run by Herne View Primary School and the Rotary Club of Ilminster saw children from 5 to 11 taking part. It was characters everywhere as staff and children at Herne View Church of England Primary dressed up to celebrate World Book Day. This year classes engaged in a range of activities including decorating all their classroom doors as their favourite books, creating book covers to decorate the school hall, older children going to read to the younger children and holding

To celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight the children have been learning about Fairtrade food and thinking about the lives of Fairtrade farmers across the world and the impact climate change may have on food production in the future. The children’s work is currently on display in the showcase window of Ilminster Emporium.

Herne View artists are on display at The Arts Centre in The Meeting House Ilminster until 4th March. The work displayed, alongside other schools, includes artwork from all year groups and includes a range of styles and genres. Do try and go for a look if you can.
