Well done to our Y3/4 football teams who had success at a recent CISP (Crewkerne and Ilminster Schools’ Partnership) event held at Wadham. Twelve children went with Miss Taylor for the 6 a side competition and our two teams had an outstanding afternoon with final scores of Herne View 2 coming 1st and Herne View 1 coming 3rd. Very well

In LKS2, we have had weekly sessions on a Monday with Paula, our Yoga teacher. We have been learning a range of poses and relaxation techniques across our sessions.

In LKS2, we have spent the past few Art and Design lessons creating our own Egyptian masks. We have used royal colours to help these stand out.

A team of nine children went to Holyrood on a cold afternoon this week to run a cross country course (800m for LKS2 and about 1K for UKS2). The children did superbly well with every single one of them earning point by coming in the top fifteen (races had about 40 competitors). Special mentions to Anna and Owen for winning

Nothing quite brings about the spirit of Christmas like Christmas Carols and songs and the Herne View Primary choir have been out sharing these with the local community. Led by the Music lead, Simon Ashdown, the children have gone to sing at Muchelney House and Vaughn Lee Residential Home and were kindly invited to sing with the Ilminster Belles at

This week Herne View had a very special visitor when Father Christmas came but instead of flying by reindeer he came by helicopter with the crew from RNAS Yeovilton. This was a truly magical experience where we all shared in the wonder of Christmas and everyone loved meeting Father Christmas and the crew when they landed on the school field

Children and staff across the school and pre-school brought out their reindeer, Father Christmas, Snowmen and a myriad of other designed Christmas jumpers to support Save the Children Christmas Jumper day raising over £200.

Do try and take a look at the showcase window on Silver St over Christmas to see poems and art work by children in Key Stage 1 and Reception. I’m sure you will agree we have some very jolly snowmen who could make you feel warm inside even when the weather outside is freezing.
