CISP LKS2 Football Tournament at Wadham

On a cold, wet and blustery afternoon, ten eager year 4 children ventured to Wadham to take part in the CISP LKS2 football tournament. There were eight teams in total and all played against each other in a round robin format with ten minute games. Despite the pitches cutting up as the afternoon rain progressed, there was some neat footwork and excellent teamwork.  After seven games we had won all seven, many convincingly whilst only conceding one goal in the process! There was only one team in the way of glory and that just happened to be our final league game.  We had won 6/6 and they had won 5 and drawn 1 of their seven. The game was a tight affair, we took the lead early on before they levelled up with a fine breakaway goal. Into the final two minutes and they had a counterattack from our own attacking move, dribbled around our final defender and shot past the goalkeeper.  A 2-1 loss meant we lost our 100% record but Mr Treacher announced that we had made the competition final against that very same team again as we had 18 points and a goal difference of +18.  This final game was once more a tight contest, unfortunately we lost 1-0 and settled for second place out of the eight teams entered. Everyone was impressed with the sportsmanship shown, shaking hands at the end of every game whilst displaying exemplary behaviour! Well done to all ten children involved!
